Tirupati temple to set up solar power plant

    land leased by TDD to set up the plant at Kosuvaripalle in Tamballapalle in Chittoor district.

    agreement between TDD and Vikram Solar during which the latter will generate a minimum 1.55 crore units of assured power every year.

    is the cost per unit that TDD will pay during this 20 years, this the lowest per unit cost in the country.
  • Rs 4.27 crore
    per annum is the estimated savings once the plant is functional.
  • 1.2 crore
    units of power [~ 8 MW] is being currently generated by TDD using windmills.
  • 70%
    of TDD's power needs will be met by renewables once the solar plant is operational.
