Jharkhand first state to sign MoU and join the UDAY scheme

    The Government of India, the State of Jharkhand and the JBVNL (Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the Scheme UDAY – “Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana” on this day.
  • Rs. 1,165 crore
    outstanding debt of JBVNL as on 30 September 2015.
  • Rs. 6,000 crore
    outstanding dues of JBVNL with central public sector undertakings
  • Rs. 6,874 crore
    amount of debt (75%) and dues (100%) owed by JBVNL now passed over to the state of Jharkhand.
  • Rs. 291 crore
    or 25% of JBVNL's debt will now be repaid with fresh State guaranteed DISCOM bonds to be issued at coupon rates around 3% less than the average existing interest rate.
  • Rs. 115 crore
    Savings for the state DISCOM in annual interest cost through reduction of debt and through reduced interest rates on the balance debt.
  • Rs.1,000 crore
    Savings for the state DISCOM by way of surcharge on outstanding dues to Power Generators paid each year.
  • Rs. 2,000 crore
    The estimated additional revenues till FY 19 to accrue through reduction in AT&C losses and transmission losses.
  • Rs. ? crore
    The gain expected till FY 19 through Demand Side interventions such as usage of energy- efficient LED bulbs, fans & air-conditioners and efficient industrial equipment.
