Chhattisgarh signs UDAY MoU, 2nd State to join scheme

    The Government of India, the State of Chhattisgarh and the CSPDCL (Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the Scheme UDAY – “Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana” today.
  • Rs. 1,740 crore
    outstanding debt of CSPDCL as on 30 September 2015.
  • Rs. 1,350 crore
    amount of debt (75%) owed by CSPDCL now passed over to the state of Chhattisgarh.
  • Rs. 435 crore
    or 25% of CSPDCL's debt will now be repaid with fresh State guaranteed DISCOM bonds to be issued at coupon rates around 3% less than the average existing interest rate.
  • Rs. 2,350 crore
    The estimated additional revenues till FY 19 to accrue through reduction in AT&C losses and transmission losses.
  • Rs. 630 crore
    The gain expected till FY 19 through Demand Side interventions such as usage of energy- efficient LED bulbs, fans & air-conditioners and efficient industrial equipment.
  • Rs. 3,032 crore
    Estimated overall benefit.
  • 9,88,000
    households in 885 villages that are still without electricity will now have an expedited opportunity to be electrified through the scheme.
