Uttar Pradesh signs UDAY MoU, 4th State to join scheme

    The Government of India, the State of Uttar Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited(UPPCL), on behalf of several state DISCOMs of Uttar Pradesh signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the Scheme UDAY – “Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana” here today.
  • Rs. 53,200 crore
    outstanding debt of UPPCL and other UP DISCOMs as on 30 September 2015.
  • Rs. 39,900 crore
    amount of debt (75%) owed by all DISCOMs now passed over to the state of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Rs. 20,125 crore
    or 25% of UP DISCOM debt will now be repaid with fresh State guaranteed DISCOM bonds to be issued at coupon rates around 3% less than the average existing interest rate.
  • Rs. 1,600 crore
    Savings for the Uttar Pradesh DISCOMs in annual interest cost through reduction of debt and through reduced interest rates on the balance debt.
  • Rs. 17,700 crore
    The estimated additional revenues till FY 19 to accrue through reduction in AT&C losses and transmission losses.
  • Rs. 3,500 crore
    The gain expected till FY 19 through Demand Side interventions such as usage of energy- efficient LED bulbs, fans & air-conditioners and efficient industrial equipment.
  • Rs. 5,600 crore
    Gain through coal reforms, such as availability of 100% washed coal.
  • Rs. 33,000 crore
    Estimated overall benefit.
  • 143,54,000
    households in 490 villages that are still without electricity will now have an expedited opportunity to be electrified through the scheme.
