Planning under way for efficient street lighting in Dehradun, India

    CFL/vapour based street lights are expected to be replaced with more efficient LED based bulbs in the city of Dehradun in the coming months. The project will be implemented by Energy Efficient Services Ltd (EESL) on behalf of Dehradun Municipal Corporation.

    Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC), at present, spends in managing the streetlights that includes electricity bill, salaries of workers and purchase of CFL bulbs which are being presently being used. 20 linemen and the same number of helpers are currently looking after the maintenance of the streetlights.
