Coal use shrinking even in states suing over new climate regulations

    of the 27 states that are challenging the Clean Power Plan have seen a decline in coal burning for electricity from 2007 to 2015.

    of these states - Indiana, Ohio, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, New Jersey, Florida and South Dakota - have seen a decline of 35% or more.

    states - Kansas, Louisiana, West Virginia - have seen a decline between 25-35%.

    states - Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan - are between 15-25%.
