  • 100,000
family size biogas plants is the target set by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in the current fiscal year (2016-17) for all states combined. These will be implemented under the National Biogas and Manure Management Progamme (NBMMP) with an objective to provide clean gaseous fuel for cooking and organic bio-manure as a by-product.
  • 21,90,000
likely saving in LPG cooking cylinders annually once the targets are met.
  • 10,000 tonnes
of urea equivalent will be saved as well since the one of the by-products of the biogas plant is bio-manure to reduce which can supplement use of chemical fertilizers.
  • 4,50,000 tonnes
    estimated reduction in CO2 emissions.
  • 2,50,000 tonnes
estimated reduction in methane emissions. Methane has 4X impact as a GHG than CO2!
