Status of Jigaon Irrigation Project in Vidarbha

    has been spent on the project so far by the Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC), yet no work is visible on the ground. The dam is to be built on the Purna river in Buldhana district of Maharashtra.

    jump in project cost over the 15 years since it was commissioned. Cost of the project has increased from Rs. 394 crore to Rs. 5,700 crore, assuming it will be completed in 2019.

"Project affected persons" have complained of many irregularities in land acquisition as a number of then have been made to sign on blank panchnamas. Land acquisition is the primary reason for the delay.
