Vasai Road station set to switch over to energy efficient appliances

    55,000 units of electricity consumed by the Vasai Road station per month. The monthly electricity bill works to anywhere between Rs. 5,00,000 to Rs. 6,00,000.

    savings in electricity consumption that the Western Railways (WR) is looking to achieve by replace all electric appliances at the station, including fans, bulbs and air-conditioners, with energy efficient devices to cut down on power consumption. If successful, similar rollouts will be emulated at other suburban stations too, according to WR spokesperson Ravindar Bhakar.

    time frame in which the replacements are expected to be completed. The project will be executed by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) and it will also bear the cost of the appliances. The money saved in the power bill after the installation of the energy efficient appliances will be given to EESL to recover its cost.
