Farmers in Rajasthan incur huge losses as govt fails to procure produce at MSP

  • Rs 4,500 crore
    Losses incurred by farmers in the state of Rajasthan on just 4 crops during the rabi season (sown in September and harvested in February). The losses are due to failure of the state government to procure the produce as per the agreed Minimum Support Price for each crop.
  • Rs. 1,700 crore
    Estimated loss on Mustard. MSP set by govt. Rs. 3,700 per quintal. Average price at which farmers were able to sell their produce: Rs. 3,100 per quintal.
  • Rs. 1,200 crore
    Estimated loss on Moong.
  • Rs. 700 crore
    Estimated loss on Peanuts. MSP set by govt: Rs. 4,120 per quintal. Average price at which farmers were able to sell their produce: Rs. 3,200 to 3,600 per quintal.
  • Rs. 830 crore
    Estimated loss on Bajra.
