    Ministry of Shipping evolved a new incentive scheme to encourage major ports to become green ports.
  • 50%
    Percentage of project cost for green projects that the Ministry would provide assistance for. Projects such as waste water treatment, renewable energy generation, use of bio-diesel and provision of shore power would be supported.
  • Rs. 25 crore
    Financial grant to be given to each major port for undertaking these initiatives.
  • 150 MW
    capacity to be generated using renewable sources in the next 5 years - committed to by 9 major ports. This includes 25 MW generation by Jawaharlal Nehru Port and 20 MW each by Paradip Port, Kamarajar Port and Kandla Port.
