Renewable Energy Target: Victoria, Australia

    The Andrews Labor Government’s renewable energy targets for Victoria passed the Legislative Council late this afternoon. The targets, enshrined in The Renewable Energy (Jobs and Investment) Bill 2017 include:

    of the Victoria’s electricity to come from renewable sources by 2020.
  • 40%
    To be achieved by 2025.

    Premier Daniel Andrews joined Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio this day to announce the introduction of legislation for Victorian Renewable Energy Targets (VRET).

    Expected percentage reduction in Victoria’s electricity sector greenhouse gas emissions by 2034-35.
  • $30
    Annual reduction in average cost of power for Victorian households once the VRET goals are met. Medium businesses are likely to see reductions by $2,500 a year and large companies will likely see reductions by $140,000.
