Efficient Domestic Lighting scheme launched in Melaka, Malaysia

    Chief Minister of Melaka, Malaysia, Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Hj. Idris Bin Haron inaugurated the UJALA scheme today. Under the scheme, EESL will make available energy efficient domestic 9W LED bulbs.

    domestic 9W LED bulbs will be made available in Phase I of the program, at RM 10 per bulb instead of the market price which is nearly 2x times this price.

    households across the state to benefit. Each household can buy upto 10 bulbs.

    Estimated annual savings in electricity bills for all consumers combined.
  • 26,000 MWh
    savings in electricity each year through use of efficient lighting.
  • 19,000 tonnes
    annual reduction in CO2 emissions.
  • 3 year
    free replacement warranty against any technical defects will be provided for each bulb. The bulbs will be sent from India manufactured by leading such as Osram and Philips.
  • 28
    Number of Japeruns that will be utilized as distribution centres for the bulbs. Japerun is a unique community welfare and engagement centre, and several such centres are situated across the Melakan State.
