Tytec Group and Green Distillation Technologies (GDT) jointly established Tytec Recycling in Perth, Australia, with an aim to build the world’s first extra-large tyre recycling plant.
tonnes of 'off-the-road' (OTR)tyres of various sizes reach end of life in Australia each year according to the Hyder Report in 2013-14 79.4%are left on site (mostly mining sites) as currently there is no economic and green method of recycling them.
Planned start of construction of the plant, which will leverage GDT developed ‘destructive distillation’ process. By using the GDT technology a tyre that weighs 3.5 tonnes will yield 1,500 litres of oil, 1.5 tonnes of carbon, as well as the steel reinforcing which can go back to the tyre manufacturer for reuse.
