    Official launch of the GET FiT Uganda Program. The program, jointly developed by the Government of Uganda, the Electricity Regulatory Agency (ERA) and KfW is designed to leverage private investment into renewable energy generation projects in Uganda. GET FiT is being supported by the Government of Norway, the United Kingdom, the Government of Germany and EU through the EU Africa Infrastructure Fund.

    Number of small-scale renewable energy projects being fast-tracked by GET FiT through the involvement of private developers.
  • 770 GWh
    electricity generated from all of these projects combined (once operational).
  • 157 MW
    combined generation capacity that will be built.
  • 20%
    Percentage increase in Uganda’s energy production which in turn will contribute in tackling an anticipated supply shortage in the period up to 2020.
  • 200,000
    new households will be able to get access to energy, including in rural areas. Approximately 1.2 million people will benefit.
  • 11 million tons
    reduction in CO2 emission over the 20-year lifespan of the projects.
