  • 500 kW
Installed capacity of a solar array system installed at a 6,000 acre cotton and wheat irrigated farm in Narromine owned by Jon Elder. The irrigation system at the farm will be powered by the solar system during the day and as the sun goes down the existing diesel generator will gradually kick in to water the farm.
  • 6,000,000 litres
Volume of water that can pumped per day using just solar. Using both solar and diesel, the system can pump as much as 15,000,000 litres per day.
  • 1,550
Number of solar panels that have been installed over an area of roughly 1 hectare. The system was installed by Australia’s solar pumping specialist - REAQUA.
  • 175,000 litres
Quantity of diesel that is expected to be saved each year, a 50% reduction from consumption prior to the installation of the solar system.
  • 50%
Estimated reduction in diesel bills and consumption. With diesel costing over $1/litre, minimum savings would be in the range of $175,000 each year.
  • 5 years
Expected time frame for return of investment.
  • 500 tonnes
Estimated annual reduction in greenhouse gas emissions - equivalent to burning 175 tonnes of coal in a year.
