Tea garden workers in Assam incentivised for opening bank accounts

    Number of tea garden workers in Assam that opened their bank accounts during the demonetisation period. The state govt. has decided to provide financial incentive for these workers in the form of Rs. 5,000 that would be transferred into these accounts.

    Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ceremonially launched ‘Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela 2017-18’ by distributing cheques to beneficiaries at a function held at Sarbananda Singha auditorium in Tinsukia. Rs. 2,500 will be deposited into the beneficiary accounts during Phase I of this scheme.

    Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the state government has approved release of Phase-II of the scheme. All beneficiaries covered during the Phase-I will receive the second part of Rs. 2,500 in their bank accounts on January 15, 2019.
