    Year by which the country has committed to shut down its remaining coal fired power plants according to a statement by minister Yuval Steinmetz.
  • 2022
    Closure of units 1 - 4 (375 MW each) at the Orot Rabin coal power station in Hadera. Total impacted capacity: 1,500 MW
  • 2023
    Completing the conversion of a coal production unit in Ashkelon to natural gas as a pilot program.
  • 2023
    Choosing an alternative to closing the remainder of the generation units at the Rutenberg coal power plant in Ashkelon (1 x 575 MW, 2 x 550 MW) and units 5-6 (575 MW each) at the Orot Rabin coal power plant in Hadera. Total impacted capacity: 2,825 MW
  • 2025-2028
    A gradual cessation of electric production using coal.
  • 2028-2030
    A complete cessation of the use of coal in the generation of electricity in all coal-fired power stations and a transition to electricity generation using natural gas and renewable energies only.
