  • 3.2 MW
Generation capacity of a off grid solar PV with battery storage system set up at oil and gas giant Santos' Cooper Basin site that stretches from from north-east South Australia across the border into Queensland.
  • 56
Number of beam pumps (pumps used to mechanically lift oil out of wells that do not produce enough pressure for the oil to freely flow to the surface) that will be powered by the solar system. Over time, this will be extended to cover all 151 pumps in operation.
  • 140
Barrels of oil that will be saved each day due to the pumps now running based on solar energy. This will reduce costs by cutting fuel consumption and eliminating the need to transport fuel to remote wells.
  • $16 million
    Estimated project cost.
  • $4.3 million
Funding that ARENA is providing towards the project.
