Water Watch: Water levels in reservoirs in Andhra Pradesh [31 Jan 2020]

Sriram Sagar Dam (aka Pochampadu Dam). At 74% of its live capacity of 90.31 TMC. Was at 29.51 TMC on this day last year. Built across the Godavari river in Telangana it serves irrigational needs in Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad and Nizamabad districts. It also provides drinking water to Warangal city. There is a hydroelectric plant working at the dam site, with 4 turbines each with 9 MW capacity generating 36 MW.

Jaikwad Dam. At 90% of its live capacity of 102.73 TMC. Was at 38.09 TMC on this day last year.

Almatti Dam. At 79% of its live capacity of 129.72 TMC. Was at 57.24 TMC on this day last year.

Narayanpur Dam. At 89% of its live capacity of 37.65 TMC. Was at 18.82 TMC on this day last year.

Tungabhadra Dam. At 48% of its live capacity of 100.86 TMC. Was at 18.86 TMC on this day last year.

Srisailam Dam. At 65% of its live capacity of 215.81 TMC. Was at 54.25 TMC at the same time last year.

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. At 69% of its live capacity of 312.05 TMC. Was at 178.07 TMC on this day last year. The dam, built across the Krishna river, is situated on the border of Nalgonda district in Telangana and Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. The dam provides irrigation water to the Nalgonda, Suryapet, Krishna, Khammam, West Godavari, Guntur and Prakasam districts along with hydro electricity generation.

Ujjaini Dam. At 94% of its live capacity of 117.24 TMC. Was at 76.98 TMC on this day last year.

Dr. KLRS Pulichintala Dam. At 57% of its live capacity of 45.77 TMC. Was at 3.49 TMC on this day last year.

Yeleru Dam. At 80% of its live capacity of 24.10 TMC. Was at 19.66 TMC on this day last year.

Somasila Dam. At 77% of its live capacity of 78 TMC. Was at 19.48 TMC on this day last year.

Kandaleru Dam. At 56% of its live capacity of 68.03 TMC. Was at 11.66 TMC on this day last year.

Veligodu Balancing Reservoir. At 54% of its live capacity of 16.95 TMC, Was at 4.23 TMC on this day last year.

Chitravathi Balancing Reservoir. At 61% of its live capacity of 10.0 TMC. Was at 2.39 TMC on this day last year.
