India: Production and Area of various Horticulture Crops [2019-20]

    Total horticulture production in 2019-20 (2nd Advance Estimates) compared to 310.74 million tonnes in 2018-19, an increase of 3.13%. Production of Vegetables, Fruits, Aromatics and Medicinal Plants and Flowers increased, while production of Plantation Crops and Spices saw a decline over the previous year.

    Total area under horticulture production in India in 2019-20 (2nd Advance Estimates), up from 25.43 million hectares in 2018-19.

    Total production of vegetables in 2019-20 compared to 183.17 million tonnes in 2018-19. Increase is mainly due to more production of Onion, Tomato, Okra, Peas and Potato.
  • 10.35 million hectares
    Total area under production of vegetables in India in 2019-20, up from 10.07 million hectares in 2018-19.
  • 99.07 million tonnes
    Total production of fruits in 2019-20 compared to 97.97 million tonnes in 2018-19. Increase is mainly due to more production of Banana, Apple, Citrus and Watermelon.
  • 6.66 million hectares
    Total area under production of fruits in India in 2019-20, up from 6.58 million hectares in 2018-19.
  • 16.24 million tonnes
    Total production of plantation crops in 2019-20 compared to 16.35 million tonnes in 2018-19.
  • 3.88 million hectares
    Total area under production of plantation crops in India in 2019-20, up from 3.87 million hectares in 2018-19.

    Total production of spices in 2019-20 compared to 9.43 million tonnes in 2018-19.
