Utilisation of fly ash generated as waste in coal powered plants in India [2019-20]

    Percentage of the 226.13 million tons of fly ash generated in coal fired power plants in India during the period 2019-20 was repurposed. Fly ash is utilised for manufacturing brick /blocks/tiles; cement manufacturing, ready mix concrete; construction of road and fly over embankment; ash and geo-polymer-based construction material; construction of dam; filling up of low lying areas; filling of mine voids; manufacturing of sintered/ cold bonded ash aggregate among others. Amount and % of utilisation in each of the areas is indicated below:
