Financial health of state operated transportation corporations in India

Annual losses incurred by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The corporation is estimated to have suffered losses of Rs 3,000 crore since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in 2020.

Monthly losses incurred by the Mysuru division of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The corporation is estimated to have suffered losses of Rs 70 crore per month since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in 2020.

Cumulative losses of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) as of Oct 2021, up from Rs. 6.500 crore in Jul 2021. This includes Rs 5,000 crore brought about by the coronavirus outbreak and the resultant lockdown. One of the steps being considered to offset the losses is conversion of 1,000 buses from diesel to CNG. MSRTC has a staff strength of 95,000 employees and a fleet of 16,000 buses.
