States/UTs in India and their State Pollution Control Boards (except Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Sikkim and West Bengal) have failed to submit the Action Plan for setting up of plastic waste management system for collection, segregation and disposal of plastic waste in the cities, towns and villages and registration of plastic units to the Central Pollution Control Board. They will now be required to pay a fine of Rs. 1 crore a month per ruling by the National Green Tribunal.
