Estimated losses incurred by manufacturers in the garment hub of Tirupur in the months of May and Jun 2021. According to Tirupur Exporters' Association, a majority of manufacturing units in the textile belt were closed for almost six weeks during the second wave. As a result, almost 10% of orders for the upcoming season were diverted to Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia and China.
