Myanmar's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation to kick start Phase I of rural electrification plan

    Number of villages where solar home systems will be installed.

    households in these villages will be provided with rooftop solar or solar home systems.

    Number of villages where mini-grids will be set up.

    International Development Association (IDA) credit approved by the World Bank to Myanmar for both grid extension and off-grid electrification on the 16 Sep 2015.

    pilot projects for small-scale off-grid power will be implemented in 10 villages by the Rural Development Department. In parallel, procedures and technical details of mini-grid electricity supply and standards are being drafted with the help of international organisations like the World Bank, ADB and Germany’s Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
